Works well, but data incomplete

The energy monitoring plug works well, but the data output is less than I was hoping for. I have had to piece together what the report means through several exchanges with cust. service (very responsive) and a little forensic data experimentation. A full blown tutorial on how dara is obtained and reported would go a long way -- also would like access to more raw data and a beefed up display. Consistent and defined use of units would be helpful. Finally, a conservative and detailed table of accuracies and limits would be great -- the temp/humidity sensors from YoLink do a better job with that.

Power monitoring only marginally useful

Paid ~$10 extra vs basic smart plug in order to get power monitoring. Unit does measure and record wattage, but only as an hourly reading. It doesn’t report total power over time, which is what I want to know to determine cost to run any given device. Attached graph shows my refrigerator over several days, where 3 modes are detected: running, standby and defrost, but no total number. The Kill a Watt product offers that functionality as a pure measuring device. This switch would be better if it could borrow the functionality from the Kill a Watt which I suspect could be done with software enhancements only. Hope that helps.

Using in conjunction with motion sensors for plug in LED lights

We have been using these on our farm together with automation settings paired to our motion sensors. It has been a great easy way to have plug in LED lighting in our outbuildings and horse stalls turn on automatic when we are in the rooms.

We also used this and motion detector to control the lighting in our baby chicken area as they were growing up. You can easily set the time for motion or automatic time on during the day then motion only activated at night so the chicks can sleep and the light only turns on when we walk into the room.

Want more numbers

The plug works great as it's easy to link to hub and the app makes it easy to control. It does show the watts used over time. But what would be really helpful would be an instantaneous reading that shows the initial pulse of power used when my freezer starts up. This is needed to size generators and backup batteries. The second number is the kilowatt hours used for different periods of time. Again, knowing that the freezer uses 1kWHr in a 6 hour period is helpful to size generators and batteries
