YoLink with IFTTT
Connect YoLink events and actions with other services. Start with one Applet, check its activity, and confirm it does the job you intended.
Before you start
Set up YoLink first
Add devices in the YoLink app, check their operation, and keep the required hub online for hub-based devices.
Have both accounts ready
You need an IFTTT account and the YoLink app account containing your devices. The account used by the action’s other service matters too.
Check available features
Use the current YoLink service ↗ and IFTTT plan details ↗. Device options, Applet features and limits can vary.
Connect YoLink and create an Applet
Connect the YoLink service
Open YoLink on IFTTT ↗ and choose Connect. Sign in with your YoLink app account and authorize access.
Choose “If This”
Select the service and trigger that describe the event you want to detect. Read its description and choose the correct device and event options.
Choose “Then That”
Select the action service, connect its account if needed, and choose the device or scene. Check which way the automation runs: YoLink can supply an event or receive a supported action.
Enable and test the Applet
Save the Applet, check it is connected, and create a new test event. Open the Applet’s View activity to verify the trigger and action. Begin with a harmless action, such as a notification.
Linking and testing are separate steps. Successful account authorization does not prove that the selected trigger, device, action or second service is configured correctly.
Choose the event and action you actually need
Device event → another service
Choose the relevant door, motion or leak event, then select an available action from the other service. The options offered for that trigger determine which devices you can use.
Temperature or humidity alarm
The temperature/humidity trigger ↗ uses an alert-range event. Check the device’s alert settings and the trigger’s temperature/humidity choices; do not treat it as a feed of every reading.
Another service → a YoLink scene
Create and test the scene in YoLink first, then select Execute YoLink Scene ↗ as the action. Choose the exact scene from the connected account.
Other listed YoLink actions include controlling supported outlets and valve controllers. Check the current service listing and your exact model before designing the automation.
Troubleshooting
Connection fails or the login is rejected
At YoLink’s authorization screen, enter the YoLink app login, not your IFTTT or shop login. Check that the account works directly in the YoLink app.
Then retry from the YoLink service page ↗, using the account that contains your devices.
My device or scene is missing from the dropdown
Check that the connected YoLink account contains it and that you chose the appropriate trigger or action. An option available in the app is not automatically available in every IFTTT dropdown.
If the account is correct, open the service’s Settings → Reconnect and authorize again. Return to the Applet editor and check whether the dropdown now includes the expected device or scene.
Why does the Applet run late?
The current YoLink trigger listing uses polling: IFTTT checks for events periodically. It currently lists five-minute checks for Pro/Pro+ and hourly checks for Free. That is a check interval, not a guaranteed response time.
Review your specific Applet’s trigger type, activity and current service details ↗. Allow for the selected plan’s interval when testing.
Nothing happens, or activity shows a failure
Open My Applets → your Applet → View activity. Check whether the trigger ran and expand the failed step. A successful trigger with a failed action points to a different part of the setup than no trigger activity.
Confirm the Applet is enabled, test a new event, and check the selected device/action fields. Review the expanded activity details for missing or incorrect data. Reconnect the service associated with the failed step if needed.
How do I use arriving or leaving home to run a scene?
Use an IFTTT Location trigger ↗ for entering or leaving an area, with a YoLink scene as the action. Create separate Applets for the two directions and select the intended Home/Away scene in each.
Review the Location service’s phone/app requirements and test arrival and departure separately. A YoLink motion-sensor event and your phone entering an area are different triggers.
Can this provide offline local automation?
IFTTT connects online services. Keep the required internet connection, hub and destination service available. Do not assume an Applet will run during an outage or that enabling it also configures direct device pairing.
For a local response, review the exact devices’ manuals and their supported YoLink setup separately. Find model-specific instructions →
Still need help?
Send enough detail to locate the failed step:
- The YoLink device/hub models and whether they work in the app.
- Your Applet ID, trigger/action names and the service used at each end.
- The test event’s time and time zone, plus the activity result or exact error.
- Whether the problem is authorization, a missing option, delay or a failed action.
Keep passwords, secret keys and account tokens out of screenshots.
