What is the YoLink Garage Door Controller?
The YoLink Garage Door Controller is a device that allows you to control your garage door operator or button control from your smartphone or voice assistants.
Regarding the newly designed 'Craftsman Opener' featuring a yellow learn button, there is an issue with adding other controllers for control. Would integrating the YoLink system assist in monitoring and managing the garage door?
We have devised two potential solutions to address this:
1. YoLink Finger Switch: Implement the YoLink Finger as a physical mechanism to manually toggle the garage door opener on and off. This straightforward workaround ensures remote control of the garage door remains accessible.
2. For those comfortable with a more technical approach, consider modifying the Craftsman remote controller to interface directly with the YoLink Garage Door Controller. This process entails opening the casing of the remote control, identifying the switch contacts on the circuit board, and soldering wires to connect them to the YoLink Garage Door Controller. Upon completing this modification, ensure the controller is strategically positioned to maintain seamless communication with the YoLink Hub for app-based control.
Is the Garage Door Controller a momentary relay?
Yes, the Garage Door Controller is a momentary relay, it uses a pulse signal . This means that it provides a brief pulse of power to the garage door opener to trigger the door to open or close.
How does YoLink Garage Door Controller work?
It works by connecting the device to your garage door opener and then connecting it to YoLink Hub, the hub connects to the internet. Once connected, you can use the YoLink app or popular voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant to open and close your garage door from anywhere.
How do I know if my garage is compatible?
The YoLink garage door controller, like most garage door controllers on the market, is compatible with most older and some newer garage door openers. To check compatibility, please visit our Garage Controller Compatibility Page.

Can I use voice commands to control the Garage Door Controller with Alexa?
Yes, you can use voice commands to control the Garage Door Controller with Alexa.
Here's how you can set it up:
Start by connecting the YoLink garage door sensor with the YoLink garage door controller in the YoLink app. (YoLink garage door sensor is required)
Once the devices are paired in the YoLink app, you can link them to Alexa.
Use the following voice command with Alexa: "Hey Alexa, unlock/lock [garage door sensor name]."
This will allow you to control your garage door using voice commands through Alexa.
To ensure both the Garage Door Sensor and Garage Door Controller work with Alexa, it is best to bind the sensor to the controller in the YoLink app before adding them to the Alexa app. This will ensure that both devices are discovered by Alexa and can be controlled with voice commands or routines.
Can I create routines to control the Garage Door Controller with Alexa?
Yes, you can establish routines to operate the Garage Door Controller with Alexa. To do this, you'll first need to configure two scenes within the YoLink App: one for opening the garage door and another for closing it. After setting up these scenes, you can then create routines to trigger the respective scenes and open or close the garage door as desired.
I don't like the 4-digit unlock code with the garage door opener in Alexa, is there a workaround?
Yes, there is a workaround to avoid using the 4-digit unlock code with the YoLink Garage Door Opener in Alexa. Here are the steps:
In the YoLink app, go to Menu (three lines in the upper left corner) -> Settings -> Account -> Advanced Settings -> Enable Control of security devices. Please note that enabling this option means you acknowledge the potential safety risk.
Create a new scene in the YoLink app by going to Smart -> Scene, and adding a new behavior for the garage door. Choose Device Actions -> select the Garage Door Controller -> select Toggle -> tap the checkmark to save the new scene.
In the Alexa app, disable and re-enable the YoLink skill to discover the new scene. Then, set up a routine that triggers the new scene when you say "Alexa, close the garage door". To do this, go to Routines -> When this happens -> Voice -> enter the phrase "close the garage door" -> Add actions -> Smart Home -> Control scene -> select the garage door scene you created -> Save.
Please note that for the purposes of automation, "open" and "close" are the same for garage door operators, so you can simplify your commands by using "operate" or another phrase of your choice.
If you want to simulate Alexa's voice, you can create additional routines that say "Garage door is closed" or "Garage door is open" when the garage door sensor detects a change in status.
Does the app require a code when using Google Assistant?
When using Alexa, the default settings are that a voice password code is required to unlock the garage door. However, when using Google Assistant, there is no need to provide a code for unlocking the garage door.
Can I use the YoLink Garage Door Kit with Google Assistant?
Yes, you can use the YoLink Garage Door Kit, including the YoLink Garage Door Controller and Garage Door Sensor, with Google Assistant. You need to pair the Garage Door Controller with the Garage Door Sensor in the YoLink app before using it with Google Assistant
How can I control my garage door with Google Assistant?
You can use Google Assistant to open or close your garage door by saying "Hey Google, open the garage door" or "Hey Google, close the garage door".
Can I check the status of my garage door with Google Assistant?
Yes, you can check the status of your garage door with Google Assistant by saying "Hey Google, is the garage door open?" or "Hey Google, is the garage door closed?".
Is the YoLink garage door controller compatible with Amazon Key?
No, the YoLink garage door controller is not compatible with Amazon Key.
How can I use the Garage Door Controller as an action device in IFTTT?
To use the Garage Door Controller as an action device in IFTTT, you need to create a scene in the YoLink app first. Go to YoLink App->Menu->Settings->Account->Advanced Settings->Turn on control of the security device first. Then scene should toggle the controller. Next, you can trigger the scene in IFTTT as an action.
Can I control the garage door with the YoLink app?
Yes, the YoLink app allows you to open and close your garage door remotely, monitor its status, and receive notifications when the door is opened or closed.
I tried to configure the garage door sensor's settings to send alerts for both open and closed statuses, but am only receiving SMS notifications for when the door is open, not when it's closed. Why is this happening?
YoLink's device alarm platform categorizes device events into four levels: Tip, Warn, Alert, and Emergency. SMS notifications are triggered for events at the Alert level and above. The "Open," "Normal Open," and "Status Error" events for door sensors fall under the Alert level.
However, the "Close" event is categorized as Warn level, which does not trigger SMS notifications. Unfortunately, custom event levels are not supported at this time. You can trigger SMS notifications by setting up a separate Automation that sends an SMS notification specifically when the garage door is closed.
I'd like to set an Alarm Strategy for the garage door controller (YS4906) with the YoLink Finger (YS4908), but it appears as disabled.
The YoLink Garage Door Controller/Finger doesn't have an Alarm Strategy option because they depend on the YoLink Garage Door Sensor to detect if the door is open or closed. To get notifications about your garage door's status, you should assign the Alarm Strategy to the YoLink Garage Door Sensor instead of the Controller/Finger.
Why is the YoLink garage door controller not available in the list of devices for a YoLink scene or automation?
By default, the YoLink garage door controller is considered a security device and may not be visible in the list of devices for a scene or automation. To add the YoLink garage door controller to a scene or automation, you will need to go to the YoLink app and enable control of security devices. To do this, go to Menu -> Settings -> Account -> Advanced Settings and turn on the "Control of security devices" option. Please note that enabling this option means you acknowledge the potential safety risk.
Can the YoLink Smart Garage Door Controller be set up to close relay contact for 30 seconds?
No, the YoLink Smart Garage Door Controller is not designed to close relay contact for a set period of time. It is a momentary pulse signal device that provides a brief pulse of power to the garage door opener to trigger the door to open or close. You may want to consider using the YoLink Alarm Controller, which is also a pulse signal device but allows you to set the duration of the alarm to control the operation time. However, please note that the YoLink Alarm Controller is specifically designed for alarm applications and may not be suitable for all use cases. Or consider YoLink relay’s delay on/off feature.
Will the YoLink Garage Door Controller still work if my internet connection is down?
The YoLink Garage Door Controller relies on an internet connection for remote access and control. If your internet connection is down, you won't be able to control the garage door through the YoLink app or voice assistants. However, you can still use the physical garage door opener or wall button to operate the door.
What should I do if I can't open or close my garage door with the YoLink Garage Door Controller?

(1) If the wiring is wrong, please adjust the wiring.
(2) If the wiring is correct but the garage door cannot be controlled, please kindly contact YoLink customer support.
When I look at the settings in the app for the garage door sensor/controller, I do not see any way to select or change the alarm strategy. How do I set the alarm strategy for the garage door sensor?
To configure the alarm strategy for your garage door sensor/controller, please follow these steps:
Open the YoLink App on your device.
Tap on the three green lines located on the upper left corner of the screen to access the menu.
Select "Settings" from the menu options.
Within the Settings menu, locate and tap on "Alarm Strategy."
You will find options to configure the alarm strategy here. Choose the desired settings that suit your preferences.
After configuring the alarm strategy, tap on "Related Devices" located on the Alarm Strategy settings page.
From the list of devices, select your garage door sensor/controller.
Once you've selected the garage door sensor/controller, remember to save your settings.
After this, you should be able to successfully set up the alarm strategy for your garage door sensor in the YoLink App.
Why does the Controller need the sensor?
The reason why the garage door controller must be paired with the garage door sensor is that the garage door controller does not know the status of the garage door, to ensure the security, it cooperates with the garage door sensor to obtain the status of the garage door.
What steps should I take if I decide to alter my plans while the garage door is in motion?
If you find yourself wanting to change your decision midway through the opening or closing process, simply press the physical garage door button. This action will halt the door at its current position, ready to resume operation upon the next button press.
