I bought two X3 so I could evaluate the location for a container pond in my backyard. I wanted to compare the water temperature to the ambient temperature. The two X3 have performed very well for a month now and provide the information I was hoping for. I do think the apps user interface needs improvement as it is difficult, and in some places impossible for a seventy year old man to read. Most of its graphing is in the tiniest text size. Font colors, on white backgrounds do not provide enough contrast. The Low Temperature, as example, is in a light yellow font on a white background, the results unreadable even to a twenty year old. Given the interface and hub can control multiple temp units, it would be nice if the app provided a way to track multiple thermometers, combining reports on a single graph natively instead of having to export data. The export function however is an important and appreciated feature.
I believe a complete overhaul of the display UI would make this a five star review.
The Yo Link folks seem to think of everything. I am able to calibrate thie sensor so that I can manage pool temperatures with my remote solar heat collectors where the switching temperature is some distance away. This results in more reliable temperature management. I also use the Yo Link float sensor to manage pool water levels. I put both units in an inexpensive waterproof enclosure. Yo Link products are very well engineered.
Bought this to remote sensor a hot tub. Very easy install. Simply connected hub to existing router with cable and plugged into wall. Opened YoLink app and it quickly found hub and set up easily. Pressed the set button on sensor to “wake up” and app quickly found the new sensor. Placed cable in hot tub and now can remotely monitor hot tub temp from anywhere and be alerted if falls outside my set range. Couldn’t have been simpler!
The only thing I would like to see would be a stranger magnet on the back. It just seems like, even with the supplied metal plate, like it is going to fall off.
Installed as Hi temperature alarm and used in conjunction with a Yolink indoor alarm and a Yolink relay controlling a high current power contactor that will cut all power to the spa. I had a major damage from a high temperature malfunction because of the heater contactor stuck in the on position, resulting in thousands of dollars repairs. The temperature controller and high temperature cut off were operational but they were unable to affect a shut down even though they were working. Repairs completed and now I have total peace of mind that if it ever happens again. Not only will the power be cut to the heater, I will get audio and text messaging, Every spa owner should have this safety back up.
