For the EVO kit, YoLink Control device-to-device pairing can operate without internet access. Remote app alerts still require the hub and an internet connection.

Do I need a YoLink hub?

Yes, the products featured here use a YoLink hub for app connectivity. The alert kit and EVO shutoff kit above include one. The featured ¾-inch FlowSmart model requires a hub purchased separately. A hub needs power and an internet connection for remote app functions.

What is the difference between a leak sensor and a flow meter?

A leak sensor detects water that reaches its contacts at a specific location. A flow meter measures water moving through the pipe where it is installed. These cover different situations and can be used together. Automatic shutoff requires a compatible valve device and correct setup.

Will automatic shutoff work if the internet goes down?

With the EVO kit, correctly configured YoLink Control device-to-device pairing lets a leak sensor trigger the valve controller without an internet connection. The sensor and controller must remain powered and within communication range. Internet-dependent app alerts and remote control require connectivity. Follow the specific model's instructions and test your setup.

Do I need a plumber?

The alert kit does not require plumbing changes. The EVO operator bolts onto a compatible existing ball valve without cutting the pipe; check fit and clearance first. FlowSmart is installed inline in your plumbing, so consult a qualified plumber about pipe size, location and installation.

Will one sensor cover my whole home?

No. A sensor detects water only where water reaches its contacts. Place sensors at the locations you want to monitor. A shutoff valve controls the water line on which it is installed; it cannot stop every source of water, such as rainwater or a drain backup.
