Q: Is there any way to configure a relay to shut something off if a condition is met? Ex, my pool pump is in a closed room, if it ever failed and leaked I’d like to shut it off automatically instead of being alerted and having to do it manually.

A: Yes, you can configure a relay to automatically shut off your pool pump if a certain condition is met, such as detecting a water leak. Considering that pool pumps have high starting currents, you should use a YoLink Relay in conjunction with a heavy-duty "dumb" relay to handle the pool pump's power requirements.

Additionally, you'll need a water leak sensor to detect any leaks. Once you have both the relay and sensor installed, you can create an automation rule: when the water leak sensor detects water, it will send a signal to the YoLink Relay, which will then turn off the dumb relay, consequently shutting off the pool pump.

Q: Can the YoLink relay be connected to a pool pump?

A: The YoLink relay has a maximum current rating of 5 amps, which may not be sufficient for connecting directly to a pool pump. To safely connect the YoLink relay to a pool pump, you can use an intermediary, higher-capacity relay. Connect the YoLink relay to this high-capacity relay, and then connect the high-capacity relay to the pool pump.

Q: I want the YoLink relay to be activated when any sensor is triggered, but the strategy configuration doesn't give me the option to activate it. Is there a workaround?

A: You can create a workaround using the YoLink App by following these steps: First, navigate to the "Smart" section and select "Scene" to set up a new scene. Within this scene, enable the relay. Next, go to the alarm strategy settings and configure it to trigger the scene you just created. Keep in mind that only one scene can be triggered per strategy to avoid potential circular issues.

Q: I purchased the YoLink Relay from Amazon and expected a power supply to be included. Can I use a phone charger instead? Which wires should I use to obtain the correct voltage?

A: The YoLink relay operates on a voltage range of 5 to 24VDC. You can use a phone charger as a power supply, provided that it falls within this voltage range.

Q: How can I use a smart relay in conjunction with a temperature and humidity sensor as a temperature controller using YoLink Control Tech?

A: To use YoLink Control Tech with a smart relay and temperature/humidity sensor, you'll need the YS8004-UC weatherproof temperature sensor, as it currently supports YoLink Control. When you receive the YS8004 sensor and YS5706 relay, contact YoLink customer support to update the firmware, as the necessary version isn't publicly released.

A: There are two possible reasons:

Incomplete device status loading due to poor mobile phone network connectivity. Ensure that your mobile phone has a strong and stable network connection for optimal performance.

Insufficient interval time between device operations. If the device is operated too quickly or repeatedly, it may not fully respond, leading to connectivity issues. Ensure that the interval time between operations is more than 6 seconds to avoid this problem.

Q: Can the YoLink Relay work with other brand smart devices?

A: The YoLink Relay offers remote control through the YoLink app, timer and scheduling functions, and the ability to create smart scenes and automation between the relay and YoLink sensors. It is also compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT.

Q: Does the programming work when the internet is down?

A: If the internet is disconnected, remote control of the YoLink Relay through the app will not work. However, schedules and timers saved in the device itself will continue to function. YoLink Control, which allows you to use the YoLink Remote to turn the Smart Relay on or off, can also operate without an internet connection.
